We are one of the area’s top Managed Technology Services Firms and we are looking for our next Systems Administrator / Project Specialist. We are seeking a motivated person with awesome people skills, strong communication abilities and, most importantly, well developed technical skill to join our team.
You will usually work from our comfortable offices located in Baton Rouge and will work primarily on project tickets assigned by the Senior Project Manager and Service Coordinator. These project tickets may include from software deployments, mass configuration updates, onsite installation of server and network hardware or setup and deployment of end user workstations. Occasionally you may need to assist the help desk team with more complex or emergency service tickets and projects assigned by the Service Coordinator. A typical week will also include onsite service at our clients’ offices and facilities located throughout the greater Baton Rouge area, with occasional onsite service in the New Orleans area. This position requires the candidate to identify user problems promptly, develop solutions and always maintain our high level of customer satisfaction. You will be in one of the primary positions for our team so you must be a self-starter as well as a great problem solver.
About Our Systems Administrator / Project Specialist Position:
- You’ll travel to client locations support to troubleshoot, install and maintain equipment.
- Implement new configurations, applications and technologies
- Your work will include supporting escalated issues involving desktops, networks and user applications via phone, email and remote access tools and onsite at client locations..
- You’ll communicate with clients as needed and alert Senior Project Manager promptly for escalation of technical or out of scope issues to maintain project budgetary goals.
- You will also participate in meetings and assist in maintaining company records and customer network documentation.
- You will have opportunities to mentor Level 1 / Help Desk technicians as they learn new technology and troubleshooting steps.
- You will participate in the on-call rotation with other members of the service team.
- You will be expected to pass a certification exam for specific technologies within the first 6 months of employment (training resources will be provided).

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
- Ability to pass test demonstrating strong written and verbal communications skills.
- 3 - 6 years IT support experience with proven experience working on networking, servers and applications in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to pass vocabulary and operational proficiency tests on current PC hardware, software, and networking.
- Ability to work as scheduled sitting, standing, stooping, lift and carry 35 lbs., use a keyboard, and speak on the phone.
- Ability to travel to client site using your private vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications & Abilities (i.e. not all are required, but the more you have the better):
- 2 years of coursework in computer related discipline.
- 2 years of experience with a managed services provider or IT consulting company.
- Current/Active certification related to networking or servers
- Experience with Mac or Linux based systems.
- Experience with network cable installation and termination.
